Morphing insect robot moving along the forestScientists at Tufts University under contract with the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) will develop chemical robots that will be so soft and squishy that they will be able to squeeze into spaces as tiny as 1 centimeter, then morph back into something 10 times larger, and ultimately biodegrade.

Robotic Logistics

Logistic carrier robot A company called Kiva Systems is speeding up Internet orders with robotic systems that are modeled on random-access computer memory.

Squat orange robots and a set of adaptive algorithms are making it possible to deliver online orders faster. The system, so far installed in two giant Staples warehouses, allows workers to fill two to three times as many orders as they could with conventional methods. a third system, for the pharmacy industry is being rolled out.
